Saturday Morning

Saturdays 9 – 10 a.m. | 7+

Saturday practices are SYT's main program. Athletes from all our programs (team, beginners, intermediate)  come together to collaborate and train for tennis. Athletes are taught the fundamentals of the seven essential strokes. There is character development and Bible study lessons developed throughout practice.

We are substituting Saturday with a tennis workout via ZOOM at 10:00am. Please visit our contacts for more information.

Team Practice 

Monday Evening 5:00-6:30pm | 7+

Team practices are available to anyone over the age of seven who has a high level of interest in the sport of Tennis. Athletes are required to have completed the beginner courses and have been involved in SYT's main program for a year. Team practices are invite only. Please reach out to our Head Coach Andrew Garcia if interested in joining the team.

Intro to tennis

Tuesday Afternoons 4:00 | 7+

The introduction to tennis class is a short 5 week course that provides an introduction to the sport of tennis to young athletes. Serving Youth Tennis uses the GreatBase curriculum to teach the fundamentals of the seven essential strokes to athletes. The intro course is a prerequisite requirement to joining both the team and Saturday program (main program). If athletes enjoy tennis and want to continue, they can register for the beginner courses held on the same evening.

Beginner Class

Tuesday Evenings 5:00pm and 6:00pm | 7+

Athletes who have taken the introduction to tennis course have an opportunity to continue their tennis education with our beginner courses. Beginner classes are 10 weeks long, but athletes may continue for as long as they desire. Students will practice technique, learn footwork, targets and strategy at their level. Students who participate in the beginner class must take the intro to tennis class as a prerequisite and are invited to participate in the Saturday program as well.

Southside Baptist Church

Services: Sunday 9:30am, 10:30am and 6:00pm, Wednesday 7:00pm

Southside supports S.Y.T. by providing volunteers for our summer camps and Teen Nights. Their Pastors have graciously served by preaching to our athletes and opening their doors to our families. The largest support Southside provides is a bus route to church on Sunday mornings for our families who do not have transportation who would like to attend church services.

The Root Church

Address: 2121 E 131st Ave, Tampa FL 33612

Services: 5:00pm on Saturdays 

 

The Root has been a huge blessing to S.Y.T. these last few years. Pastor David has led his church to being hands on with our athletes at our summer camps and Teen Nights. The Root provides Biblical leadership and mentorship for our athletes and volunteers. They also have provided support in supplies and dinners for our community.

USTA Florida Foundation

The USTA Florida Foundation has been an essential part of the development of our programs the last few years. We have been awarded grants in 2021 and in 2022 that have been essential parts of our programming. Through USTA we have been able to provide summer camps for FREE to our athletes in the community. In addition USTA's funding has supported our Teen Programing

Roy Haynes park

We are so blessed by Roy Haynes Parks leaders and generosity. Roy Haynes Park allows S.Y.T. to operate at their courts three days a week at no charge. This is $10,000 in kind donation that the park is making towards SYT every year. We appreciate their staff and are grateful for their use of their facilities so that SYT's lessons can remain accessible to all.
